Symondsbury Estate is a special place all year round, but there’s an extra sprinkling of magic at Christmas time. Drop in for a beautiful, frosty walk up Colmers Hill and a warming bowl of soup at Symondsbury Kitchen, and you may just find yourself staying here for the day…
The festive season kicks off with the epic Symondsbury Estate Christmas Market, extended for the first time to three days on 1st to 3rd December, due to popular demand. With guaranteed snow, festoons of twinkly lights, live music, multiple stalls selling hand-crafted gifts and decorations, not to mention delicious food and drink, it’s the perfect event to get you into the Christmas spirit. And, it is FREE to attend!
You can find gifts galore at all the Estate shops throughout December, with something for everyone at our Home & Garden store, including homeware, indulgent toiletries, toys and artisan food and drink. At our Visitor Centre you’ll find a new, gallery-style shopping experience, The Greatest Show, which features a fantastic, curated collection of luxury gifts made by some of the best designer-makes in the South West.
If you’re feeling crafty, then we have resident River Cottage florist, Emma Dixon, running fun, festive Wreath making Workshops on 5th and 6th December. She uses sustainably-sourced, natural materials from her garden and mulled wine and mince pies are provided to add extra festive cheer.
Foodies will find inspiration from our two workshops run by rockstar butcher, Steven Lamb, on 12th and 13th December. From Smoking and Curing, to our Snout to Tail butchery and knife-skills course, you’ll have an awesome time, sample treats along the way, and learn great new culinary skills to impress your family and make Christmas lunch that bit more special.
That’s not all. If you’re looking for somewhere to celebrate Christmas in style with friends or staff then we have just the thing – our Party in the Barn on 15th December, when you can eat, be merry and dance to your heart’s content in the setting of our charming Tithe Barn.
