There’s so much to discover at Symondsbury – but the most exciting thing you might find here is a new skill and a new you! Trying out something new is not only a wonderful way to have fun and open up a new passion or hobby but is widely recognised as great way to reduce stress, gain confidence, improve your mental health and meet new people.
We have a fantastic line up of workshops and events coming up over the coming weeks, with something for all ages to try. From art classes and willow sculpting workshops, to foraging walks and storytelling – our calendar is packed with great activities, led by some of the top experts in the South West. All of them take inspiration from the stunning views and natural world that Symondsbury Estate is so renowned for.
Unleash your inner artist
Whether you’re a beginner, or wanting to brush up on your artistic skills, we have three fantastic art workshops for you. Run by local artists, they will help you capture our beautiful surroundings through the medium of sketching with pencil or charcoal, or the use of watercolour paints or line & wash. Whichever workshop you choose, you’ll leave with new ideas and skills and your memories captured forever on paper.
Fire up your children’s imagination
If you’re looking for inspiration to get your little ones into the great outdoors this summer, we have some great activities for you. Our Summer Scarecrow Trail brings to life a world of children’s literary characters reimagined as scarecrows hidden around the Estate. To build on the literary theme, we also have local storyteller, Martin Maudsley, opening a sack of spellbinding ‘Animal Tales’ in our outdoor auditorium. He’ll be bringing his stories to life with music, song, plentiful audience participation and his infectious enthusiasm for a good yarn.
Immerse yourself in the great outdoors
At Symondsbury Estate we’re never happier than when we’re outside, at one with nature – and we hope our amazing al fresco events will encourage you to get out into the great outdoors. Whether you’re on a Walk & Talk getting seasonal tips from our Head Gardener, Mel, going on a Foraging Walk through our beautiful woods to discover what you can sustainably pick from Mother Nature’s bounteous harvest, or taking an entertaining guided walk around the wild edges of the Estate to learn about our incredible trees and the fascinating folklore that surrounds them, you’re in for a treat.
