Constructed in the 18th Century from warm red sandstone bricks, this four-bedroom thatched cottage whispers tales of its past life as a bustling farm teeming with horses.
When it was refurbished to begin its new chapter as a holiday retreat, climbing roses were introduced to grace the walls and fruit trees were planted in the garden. The roses are now a stunning fixture in summer, while the plums are sometimes used in Symondsbury Kitchen for puddings, jam and compote for breakfast granola and the apples are picked to go into Symondsbury Estate’s delicious apple juice.

Bilshay Farmhouse Overview
Tucked away down a little country lane, Bilshay Farmhouse is a Grade-II listed, rural retreat with spectacular views of West Dorset’s rolling hills from every room. The peaceful garden is perfect for relaxation, with birdsong and the wind in the trees as your only interruptions. Homecooked meals can be whipped up in the well-equipped kitchen and then enjoyed in the light-filled kitchen/dining room or outside on the terrace. Then, stretch out and relax in front of the log burner in the sitting room or burn off some steam playing ping pong in the games room which was formerly the farm stables.
If that’s not enough R&R for you, there is also a hot tub where you can lie back and enjoy the panorama. Sleeping 9, it’s perfect for large groups of friends and families.
