Thatched Holiday Cottages in Dorset
A thatched cottage is the epitome of rural tranquility, hinting at nostalgia, long, lazy summer days and escapism. Picture the perfect English holiday escape, with fragrant flowers bobbing in the breeze by your front door and the sound of cricket being played nearby or the thrum of a combine harvester bringing in the sheaves, and you’re pretty much imagining the thatched cottages that we have at Symondsbury Estate. With master thatcher, George Biles, based for years in Manor Yard in the heart of the Estate, many of the houses built in and around the village were built using this traditional method of roofing and are great examples of a construction style that isn’t only beautiful, but also practical. For a holiday that brings you chocolate box good looks in the heart of the West Dorset countryside, you’ll be spoiled for choice.
