Our striking Grade-II listed Tithe Barn is a blank canvas on which to create your dream wedding, with support from our expert Wedding Team. Built in the 1440s to thresh and store grain for the Cerne of Abbas and lovingly restored, our Barn seamlessly blends centuries of history with modern elegance to create a showstopping wedding venue. The private courtyard and gardens, plus the wider Estate, including Colmers Hill, are also the perfect backdrop to your all-important wedding photos, or opt for pictures by the Jurassic Coast, a few minutes’ drive away.
You can get married in the Barn, licensed for Civil Ceremonies and Partnerships, and spend your whole day here, or opt for a church service first at Symondsbury Church.

Your Wedding
With over 10 years’ experience hosting weddings in the Tithe Barn, our dedicated Wedding Team will help transform this stunning space into your dream venue. Enjoy exclusive multi-day hire as standard, giving you and your suppliers ample time to set up and take down with ease. The Barn is fully equipped with a licensed bar, space for a live band and dancefloor, underfloor heating and a professional PA system for ceremony music and speeches. We provide tables and elegant Chiavari chairs for up to 120 guests, along with wooden folding chairs for outdoor ceremonies.
The private gardens and courtyard are perfect for garden games, sunny drinks at the horsebox bar and capturing unforgettable confetti shots. Choose from our trusted suppliers and catering options – whether you prefer a relaxed buffet or a lavish feast, the food will perfectly match your style. Your guests will also appreciate the thoughtful touches, including free nearby parking, luxurious WCs, a gallery break-out space and charming Estate holiday cottages just a short stroll away.

Plus, we offer pre- and post-wedding catering, from hen or stag party food in your holiday cottage to a delicious breakfast delivered the morning after your big day. FAQs on the Tithe Barn
What is the Tithe Barn’s capacity for our ceremony, dining and evening reception?
The Tithe Barn has capacity for 120 daytime guests for your ceremony and wedding breakfast and up to 150 guests for your evening reception.
Are there any discounts for booking on certain days of the week or during off peak months?
The Tithe Barn Venue Hire Fee is dependent on both the time of year and day of the week. We offer three prices for each year – high season, low season and midweek.
What cottages are closest to the Tithe Barn?
The closest property to the Tithe Barn is Barton Cottage, a homely cottage that overlooks the estate courtyard and sleeps 4. Duck Street Cottage, Old Post Office and Oak Cottage are all within close walking distance, with all other properties a maximum 10-minute drive away.
What are our catering options at the Tithe Barn?
We offer personalised in-house catering, or work with two local external caterers. We’ll go through this with you in more depth during the booking process.
What time can we start setting up?
We offer multi-day hire for The Tithe Barn which means you have exclusive access to the barn from 10am the day before your wedding to set up.
Do you have parking facilities on site?
Yes! We offer free, on-site parking at the venue for wedding guests and have two reserved spaces for the registrars.
Does the Tithe Barn have a bar?
A fully staffed and stocked paid bar is included in the venue hire fee. You can choose whether guests pay for their own drinks, or you provide a tab.
What time does live music need to finish?
Live music finishes at 11pm and pre-recorded music finishes at 11:30pm. Last orders at the bar are 11:15pm and the site must be vacated by midnight. For midweek weddings, live music finished at 10:30pm, pre-recorded music at 11pm, last orders at the bar are 10:45pm and the site must be vacated by 11:30pm.
Do you have an option for fireworks displays or outdoor activities?
Chinese lanterns and fireworks are not permitted due to the location of the Tithe Barn and surrounding thatched buildings. Sparklers are permitted in the garden before 9pm.
