Axen Lodge – Wedding accommodation

Axen Lodge was perfect for our stay at Symondsbury Estate for a wedding. The location was a short car ride from the main building. Axen Lodge has 3 bedrooms in the house and one in the outside cabin and can accommodate 8 people.. The cabin was a large room and was perfect with all of the amenities of the ones inside the house and a lovely porch. There was a very clean outdoor Jacuzzi in the backyard and plenty of room to play disc golf. Our 4 adult children (27+ and 30s) loved the house and yard and took advantage of the trail for hikes and runs..

The house was furnished very English Country and the kitchen was large with a large table. The kitchen was stocked with every appliance and utensil we needed. It was very clean. And when we entered Axen Lodge there was a basket with breakfast and snack foods and a bottle of wine. That was such a friendly and warm touch for a welcome. And each day we were greeted by eggs on crumpets and jam cooked by our “children”. Talk about being spoiled!

But the view was the best. We could see from the back of the house and cabin miles and miles of rolling hills, vineyards and many shades of green. That was the Bonus. We felt like we were off the beaten track but learned the road up to the driveway was part of the bicycle and hiking trail in Symondsbury but didn’t interfere with the calm and quiet of the Lodge.

The roads in the estate on the way to our cottage were extremely narrow but beautiful. We loved the arch tunnels the trees made. And the town of Bridport was only a short car ride away.

We would definitely stay in Axen Lodge again. It is an amazing cottage in the beautiful Dorset countryside. England at it’s best!
