International Women's Day - Abbie's Inspirational Story

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we would like to share Abbie’s inspirational story.

Abbie has worked at the Estate within the Symondsbury Kitchen team for two and a half years. Over that time she has shown her determination and can-do spirit, resulting in promotion to Kitchen Manager earlier this year. When Abbie first joined the business back in 2019, she had no background in hospitality but has since turned into a fantastic young chef and manager. At the start of the pandemic, she even volunteered at a COVID vaccination centre and later went on to help at a testing facility.

When the situation in the Ukraine unfolded, Abbie was one of the first in the local area to suggest doing a collection for those people most effected. She reached out to the local community over Facebook and received hundreds of messages of support and donations.

Abbie spent many evenings driving to collect items, whilst offering her home as a drop off point. Further receiving countless contributions from the Estate and Stags Estate Agents, quickly filling Abbie’s house! Abbie organised the entire process, including boxing and labelling all items to make it easier at the border. Last weekend, the items were collected by Catch Of The Day in Bridport and delivered to Cains Farm who are kindly driving everything to the Polish border later this week.

Today provides the perfect opportunity to acknowledge Abbie’s achievements and thank her for her commitment and hard work.
