Spring Supper

Our Spring Supper on Friday 20th March is all about celebrating that moment – a chance to pause, gather together and welcome the return of light, warmth and new life.

Set in our beautiful 14th-century Tithe Barn, this will be a relaxed, communal evening designed to nourish both body and mind. Imagine arriving as dusk softens into evening, sharing a drink, then sitting down together at long tables to enjoy a seasonal supper inspired by the very best of what’s growing close to home.

The menu will celebrate spring in its earliest form – showcasing local produce, fresh seasonal ingredients, and vegetables harvested from our own kitchen garden alongside food from trusted local producers.

As part of the evening, we’ll also be joined by Martin Maudsley, a captivating storyteller whose work and knowledge centre around wildlife, nature and the environment – themes that are deeply woven into life at Symondsbury Estate. They will reflect on the natural world at this time of year, offering insight, perspective and a sense of connection to the land around us.

Based in Bridport, Martin Maudsley is also a trained ecologist whose work is rooted in landscape, folklore and the living world. Closely connected with Symondsbury Estate, he weaves together natural history and local legend – including Dorset’s mischievous woodland “Colpexies” – bringing fresh life to traditional tales with poetry, music and song.

He has worked with organisations including the National Trust and the Eden Project, and is the author of Telling the Seasons (2023), a celebration of stories and traditions through the turning year.

This is an evening for anyone who loves good food, thoughtful conversation and the quiet joy of seasonal change – whether you come alone, with friends or as a couple.

Book now and give yourself something lovely to look forward to as winter fades and spring begins to unfold.

We’d love you to join us.
