If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, there’s nowhere quite like Symondsbury Estate for getting cosy and enjoying dreamy times together with your loved one.
We have a delightful selection of holiday cottages for two in Dorset, tucked away in Symondsbury village and surrounded by stunning scenery. Duck Street Cottage and Crepe Farm Barns are all luxuriously kitted out, with super king or large double beds, crisp white bed linen and fluffy dressing gowns.
Love to eat
If you think cooking is the way to someone’s heart, then a self catering stay at Duck Street Cottage is just the ticket. Pop into our Home & Garden shop for home-grown ingredients, fresh from the estate and set the mood with a tasty meal for two. There is also a great selection of cookbooks for sale if you need inspiration while you’re here. Afterwards, you can snuggle up and watch a movie in front of the log burner or star gaze from the delightful terraced garden.
However, if you’d rather take someone out to dine at one of the amazing selection of eateries that we have in West Dorset, then why not stay in one of our three Crepe Farm Barns which provide room-only accommodation? Each one is stylish, quiet and relaxed, with a large bathroom and walk in shower, kettle and fridge – ideal to keep a bottle of our Symondsbury Estate Classic Cuvée chilled (available at Home & Garden or from our Visitor Centre).
You are only a short stroll away from our café, Symondsbury Kitchen, where you can enjoy a delicious lunch made with fresh, seasonal fruit, vegetables and meats that we grow and rear on the Estate.
Then, for dinner, why not head to Dorshi or Soulshine in Bridport for hipster food that wouldn’t be out of place in London’s trendier quarters. For something a bit different, you can eat in an old railway carriage at the Station Kitchen in West Bay.
Plus, there are several great restaurants nearby that feature in the esteemed Michelin guide, including Mark Hix’s Oyster & Fish House in Lyme Regis, or Ollerod and Brassica in Beaminster.
Fall in love with Dorset
A romantic break in one of our luxury holiday cottages isn’t only about food, though. There are also a myriad of other things to do together at Symondsbury when you’re here. You can access miles of trails directly from the Estate on foot or by bike, either heading into the heart of Dorset’s stunning rolling hills or down to the South West Coastal Path to enjoy some of the best sea views in Britain.
Then there are the beaches of the Jurassic Coast. Stroll hand in hand by the imposing cliffs at West Bay and Burton Bradstock or picnic on Chesil Beach’s incredible 18-mile stretch. Go fossil hunting at Charmouth and Lyme Regis or swim together at Seatown Beach where you can also hire a seaside sauna to warm up afterwards.
And, if that’s not enough, we can’t think of a more iconic place to pop the question than at the top of Colmers Hill. Plus, if the answer is yes, we can help you arrange a spectacular wedding at Symondsbury Estate too! It seems that, for romance, we really are a destination that has everything.
